Daily Reflection: Monday, February 28

“How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the Kingdom of God.” This quote is from today’s Gospel of Mark. Most of us don’t have to worry about this and yet there can be other obstacles to our participating more fully in the awareness of God’s presence and enjoying the life that God has for us. It seems that the man in the Gospel is “stuck.” He observes the Commandments to a degree but doesn’t go beyond that. All people, rich or not so rich, are asked to live out the full spirit of the Commandments and even to go further by living the Beatitudes. It is easy to be “stuck.” Lent in coming and it gives us great opportunities to move further.
