Daily Reflection: Saturday, June 8

Saturday June 8

Today the Church honors the heart of Mary, the mother of God. The gospel tells us the story of Jesus remaining in the temple after his parents had headed home. The heart of Mary was broken as it would be again when the loss of Jesus was not simply a misplaced child but the cruel separation of an undeserved political death. Mary was always faithful, always open to the workings of God in her life. Her strength flowed from a loving heart that knew in the depths of her being that God was loving her. God is loving us in the same way, giving us the strength to be lovers even when we have to face the struggles of our own sufferings.
