The Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist 

He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,” and all were amazed.  Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God.  Luke 1:62-63)

The Collect of today’s mass prays, “…Give your people the grace of spiritual joys….”  Zechariah understood the divine will and praised God.  It was his spiritual joy.  What spiritual joy does God give each of us?  For what joy do we hope?
