“We proclaim Christ crucified. . .Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” Cor 1:23-24
Christ crucified is the ultimate sign of God’s love for us. Jesus came in love to teach us how to love and gave himself totally, even to the point of dying on the Cross. The power of God is shown in the willingness of Jesus to give himself over in love. The crucified Christ shows us that the wisdom of the world, glorifying power over others, is not the wisdom of God, but that giving of ourselves is what really gives us ‘power for’ rather than ‘power over’.
