Daily Reflection: Monday, August 29

Monday, August 29, 2022 – Memorial of the Passion of St. John the Baptist

The Passion of St. John the Baptist uncovers that to die for the truth is not to die in vain.  Martyrs are those people who stand up for the truth and willing to die for the truth.  John the Baptist was offering King Herod God’s grace and mercy if he would change his life. If only Herod had realized that the repentance John preached was not merely a nice idea but a life-changing possibility for him, to live in God’s love and peace. Like Herod we too need to make changes in our lives by repenting; and asking God for the graces we need to make the changes in our lives, to become formed more into the image of children of God we are called to be.
