Thursday, July 11, 202 – Memorial of St. Benedict

St. Benedict (480-550) is the father of Western monasticism and the patron Saint of Europe. People flocked to him because of his spiritual life. He wrote a rule of life. In his rule he wrote a guide for people’s life, how to pray and work (ora et labora). He also wrote about how to live in community, and how to offer hospitality. Hospitality is to treat each visitor like Christ. (adapted from LTP Sourcebook)
