Daily Reflection: Monday, January 23

Monday, January 23

Today is set aside as the “Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children.” Our Catholic teaching reminds us of the dignity of each person at each point in a person’s life. Today as we remember the unborn, it is also a day to advocate for ways to help and offer counseling for those who have an unwanted pregnancy and those who have had abortions. Many feel lost during these times and take the first solution that comes their way. St. Marianne Cope, a Franciscan Sister from Syracuse who ministered to the lepers in Hawaii, is a good advocate who said: “What little good we can do in this world to help and comfort the suffering, we wish to do it quietly…”
