Daily Reflection: Thursday, December 16

Thursday, December 16

We hear the words of the Prophet Isaiah: “Though the mountains leave their place and the hills be shaken, my love shall never leave you nor my covenant of peace be shaken, says the Lord, who has mercy on you.” He says earlier that the reason that the unfaithfulness of the people will not change the Lord God because “he who has become your husband is your Maker.” This may be new to us calling God “a faithful husband.” Or we might look at this as “someone who is faithful to us” in good times and bad. This helps us understand the phrase from Psalm 119 “you, O Lord, are close.”
