Daily Reflection: Wednesday, October 20

Wednesday, October 20

“Who then is the faithful and prudent servant?” Jesus asks in today’s Gospel. He addresses Peter by responding that the faithful servant is the one who does not slacken in the carrying out of his responsibilities. This speaks of the virtue of perseverance that is not easy for everyone. We have  times when we are very attentive to our responsibilities and especially, our attentiveness to God. And then there are other times, when we put off what we should be doing. It is helpful to remember Psalm 124: “Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth.”
