Daily Reflection: Tuesday, November 2
November 2 Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed
“Where, O death, is your sting?” (1 Cor 15:55)
Death does hurt. It is the separation. With hope in the Lord’s promises, we confidently pray for our loved ones. We know that they are alright. Even better than alright. But still we grieve. Grieving lasts a long time. It gradually changes, but because we have loved, it never goes away. On this day we acknowledge that we always grieve for the dead. It gives us comfort to grieve with each other and to share the pain. People of different cultures observe this day in different ways, but with a common intent. We grieve, but we are not overcome. We will be together again and rejoice in the company of the Lord.
