Daily Reflection: Wednesday, January 5
Wednesday, January 5
St. John Neuman’s feastday is today. He was the fourth bishop of Philadelphia and is credited with founding the Catholic school system there. He saw that education was important for people to move ahead in society and to understand their faith. The message in today’s First Reading at Mass from the Letters of St. John, “if God so loved us, we also must love one another” is a message that needed to be taught so that people would understand better who God is. This was John Neuman hoped to accomplish through the school system.
