Daily Reflection: Monday, October 3
Monday, October 3
This evening we will be commemorating an important Franciscan event, the death of St. Francis during a ceremony call “The Transitus.” This is a peaceful celebration of the faith filled manner in which St. Francis died. During the ceremony, some of the text is taken from one of St. Francis’ closest friend, Bro. Leo. There is a reading from the Gospel of John where Jesus washes the feet of his disciples, the Canticle of Creation, Psalm 142 and St. Francis’ Blessing on all the faithful. Here is some of his Canticle of Creation: “Praised be yours, my Lord, with all your creatures- Brother Sun, Sister Moon and the stars, Brother Wind, Sister Water, Brother Fire, Mother Earth…and our Sister, Bodily Death.”
Fr. Andrew
