Fr. William Bried, OFM, a professed Franciscan friar dies at 83

Dec. 30, 2022

Dear Friends of St. Francis Parish & Center,

It is with sadness that I share with you the news that our brother, Fr. William Bried, OFM died on Dec. 29, 2022 at St. Anthony's Friary in St. Petersburg, FL.

Bill was a professed Franciscan friar for 45 years and a priest for 43 years.  He was 83.  Bill was an assistant pastor at St. Francis Parish in the 90s when he warmly welcomed me and Andrew in 1996.  Andrew was returning to the parish as the pastor and LBI was my first assignment.  Bill continued to live with us for a number of years before he moved onto a variety of other ministries in our province.

All the funeral arrangements will be held at St. Anthony’s Friary in St. Petersburg, FL.  I ask you to please join the friars in our prayer of gratitude for the goodness of our brother, Bill.  May God bless him and grant him the fullness of life through Jesus Christ Risen.

It is with "sure and certain hope" that he now enjoys the loving embrace of Almighty God.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,

and let Your perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen.

Fr. Francis Di Spigno, OFM
Pastor
