Daily Reflection: Tuesday, June 22

 Tuesday, June 22

Today, we celebrate the lives of two saints who lost their lives because during the years of the Reformation, they would not acknowledge Henry VIII as supreme head of the church of England. They are examples of the phrase in today’s Gospel: “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road that leads to destruction.”   They were both powerful men who chose Gospel values in the use of their authority. The Responsorial Psalm says: “The one who does justice will live in the presence of the Lord.” John Fisher and Thomas More were two who believed God’s justice was more important that human desires.
