Daily Reflection: Tuesday, June 11

Tuesday, June 11, 2024 – Tenth Week in Ordinary Time

Today the church celebrates, St. Barnabas. He was not one of the original twelve apostles however he was given the title apostle, by Luke and the early church fathers. This was due to the fact of his apostolic endeavors on behalf of Christianity. His birth name was Joseph, but the apostles gave him the name Barnabas, meaning the son of encouragement, this is probably due to the fact of his friendly nature. Along with St. Paul, they evangelized the church in Antioch other places throughout Asia Minor. How can you and I follow the example of Barnabas, and be sons and daughters of encouragement to the people we meet today?
