Daily Reflection: Wednesday, May 4

Wednesday of the Third Week of Easter

And this is the will of the one who sent me,
that I should not lose anything of what he gave me,
but that I should raise it on the last day.
  (Jn 6:39)

Believing in the Son of God is certainly the happiest route to heaven, but I read this passage as giving us hope for those who do not believe or who cannot make the leap of faith. Some of our family and friends are like that.  Along with us, the Father gave them to his Son and the Son’s salvific death was for them, too.  God won’t force his love on anyone, but if we think someone is loveable, I think that God will, too.
