Daily Reflection: Friday, June 3

June 3.  Memorial of St. Charles Lwanga and Companions, Martyrs

Yes, Lord, you know that I love you. (Jn 21:15 & 16)

Jesus got the same response from Peter three times when he asked if Peter loved him.  It may not have been that the Lord was testing Peter, but rather that Peter needed to be sure of himself.  Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.  Now Peter knew how much he loved Jesus. He would be okay after that whenever he was tested by adversaries.  We need that same emphatic love to be Jesus’ good disciples.  Yes, Lord, I love you.
