Daily Reflection: Saturday, June 4

June 4.  Saturday of the Seventh Week of Easter

When he entered Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him.  (Acts 28:16)

Paul must have been thrilled.  Gentle treatment by the Romans.  House arrest.  He was free to meet other Christians and to preach.  The Romans must not have thought that he posed much of a risk.  But Paul knew that he was there for a reason and that was to preach a message that would go out from Rome to the ends of the earth.  It is not likely that our words and actions will go that far, but they will have an effect and, therefore, we do not neglect them.
