Daily Reflection: Saturday, June 11

Saturday, June 11

St. Barnabas’ memorial is today. He and St. Paul traveled throughout Asia Minor preaching and starting communities of believers in many places. Barnabas was one of the first missionaries to extend the call to conversion to the gentiles, the non Jewish community.  In Antioch the name “Christian” was first given to the members of the community. Although he was successful in laying the foundation of Christianity, it was not easy but he overcame many obstacles. May we be grateful for the dedication of the disciples in the early church and allow their spirit to move us.

Fr. Andrew
