Daily Reflection: Wednesday, August 10

Wednesday, August 10

Today, we remember the deacon St. Lawrence. He had an important ministry in the early church when the deacons took care of distributing alms to the poor and attending to the needs of the sick, widows and orphans. At one time, he was ordered by the Emperor Valerian to produce in three days all the wealth of the church. The Emperor was not happy when Lawrence presented a great number of the sick, the poor, the blind, lepers, widows and orphans and said “These are the treasures of the church.” Later, he was burned alive. Today, do some deed for those who have less than you do.

Fr. Andrew
