Daily Reflection: Thursday, August 18

Thursday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time

The servants went out into the streets
and gathered all they found, bad and good alike,
and the hall was filled with guests.
But when the king came in to meet the guests
he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment.
(Mt 22:10-11)

Most likely we have something in our closets something that gets worn only on special occasions like a wedding.  We try to wear clothes that fit the moment.  In Matthew, the wedding garment is a symbol of conversion.  The moment of our conversion is always now.  We are always turning to the Lord and it is a joyous thing.  Like a wedding.
