Tuesday of the First Week in Ordinary Time
My heart exults in the Lord,
my horn is exalted in my God. (1Sm 1:1)
The Lord answered Hannah’s prayer and she gave birth to a son. The responsorial psalm from today’s mass is her response to God. (1 Sm 2) The resemblance to Mary’s Magnificat is unmistakable. Both are prayers of mother’s hearts overflowing with joy and thanksgiving. Both women move us to share their joy and give glory to God.
