Daily Reflection: Thursday, January 11

Thursday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

If you wish, you can make me clean. (Mk 1:40)

Wretched describes the life of a leper.  Jesus moved by pity for the man in the gospel, touched and cleansed him.  God’s grace overcame St Francis’s repugnance and moved him to embrace first one, then many lepers.  Francis did not cure them, but restored their human dignity.  God’s grace can do the same with us.
