Saturday January 20
The Gospel from Mark tells us how even Jesus’ family thought he was ‘out of his mind’! They wanted to take him away, presumably to save him from himself! Francis of Assisi was looked at in the same way – his father especially thought he was crazy. The passion of both Jesus and Francis for a life totally given to God was extraordinary, yet one we can imitate in our own way. Pouring ourselves out in service to others can be done on many levels, according to our own state in life and personal circumstances. Does the Gospel evoke in you a desire to be and do more? If so, find ways to respond in the here and now. Our call is not for the future but for this present moment!
