Daily Reflection: Wednesday, February 1

Wednesday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time

So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there,

apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them.

He was amazed at their lack of faith.  [Mk 6:5-6]

After two stories of faith (Jairus, the synagogue official, and the woman with a hemorrhage), Mark narrates how Jesus found a lack of faith in his hometown of Nazareth.  Even a few cures did not move them to believe.

It surprises us as much as it did Jesus, but it is a lesson for disciples.  Jesus did not quit or even slow down.
