Daily Reflection: Friday, August 23

Friday of the 20th Week in Ordinary Time

Then [God] said to me: Prophesy over these bones and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!  Thus says the Lord God to these bones: See I will bring the spirit into you, that you may come to life.   (Ez 37:4-5)

For me, the excitement of this prophesy is the very possibility that God will breathe new life into us when we have become moribund.  There is always hope.  Always.
