Daily Reflection: Monday, September 9

The life and ministry of St. Peter Claver are our inspiration today. His life was very different from ours, yet there is overflowing love that went forth from him that cannot be forgotten. He was a Jesuit and when he was sent from Spain to study theology, he was appalled by the slave trade that was in full swing at that time. He spent hours with them, even going into the slave ships. It is said that he baptized thousands of them and ministered to them in many ways. His spirit and dedication inspire us to take care of others, in our families, in our neighborhoods.
