Daily Reflection: Tuesday, September 10

We read in today’s Gospel that Jesus went to the mountain to pray. He needed to do this to be refreshed and to have clear thinking because he was about to choose twelve men to be his apostles. Were they ready to be apostles? Probably not yet. Even though they had travelled with Jesus, heard him preach and witnessed the many times he cured sickness and disease, they were now being “called” to continue what He had begun. Jesus teaches us to take time to pray and invites us to spend time with Him so that we can respond to our being “called.”
