Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

In him we were also chosen,

destined in accord with the purpose of the One

who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will,

so that we might exist for the praise of his glory,

we who first hoped in Christ.    (Eph 1:11-12)

In games, we can call a “do-over”, but in real life?  Yet in our Blessed Mother and her Immaculate Conception, the human race gets a real life do-over.  She is the mother of the Son who makes us, who believe, sons and daughters of the Most High.  With her, we can say, “May it be done to me according to your word.”

Even so, the “do-over” is God’s not ours.
