Daily Reflection: Tuesday, December 26

Tuesday, December 26

The Feast of St. Stephen, martyr. Is today. So soon after our celebration of Christmas, we remember a disciple of Jesus who became a martyr. Acts 6 and 7 give us the account of Stephen’s final moments. At that time in Christianity, Jesus’ followers found that there was no better way to prove their commitment to Jesus than by offering their life in martyrdom. Stephen shows this so clearly as he says “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
