Daily Reflection: Thursday, November 18

Thursday, November 18

St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, although born in France, after she joined the Society of the Sacred Heart, she and several Sisters responded to the call to come and serve in the Diocese of Louisiana. Life was primitive for the Sisters in the 1800’s; they began in a log cabin. They opened schools and orphanages and were known for founding a school for Native Americans, in particular, for the Potawatomi Indians. The Indians gave her the name “Woman-Who-Prays-Always.” St. Rose is a model who showed the people of her time and us that all children are God’s children. How important is that today!
