Daily Reflection: Friday, March 31

March 31   Friday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Can you say that the one who  the Father has consecrated and sent into the world blasphemes because I said, “I am the Son of God?”  (Jn 10:36)

There is no metaphor here like Gate or Shepherd.  Jesus is straight forward about who he is.  People of his day were outraged.  By the time the gospel of John was written, believers were ready to be public about their belief even if it was risky.  For us, it would be backsliding to live as if it were a secret.
