Daily Reflection: Wednesday, June 2

Wednesday, June 2

Wednesday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time

He is not the God of the dead but of the living.  You are greatly misled.  (Mk 12:27)

The Saducees pose to Jesus a theoretical and implausible case: In heaven, whose wife will the childless widow of seven successive brothers be?

Jesus scolds them (Saducees don’t believe in heaven, anyway.) and says that they  miss the point of the afterlife, namely, to be with the living God forever.  Isn’t that enough?
