Daily Reflection: Wednesday, September 20
Wednesday September 20
“We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.”
In Luke’s Gospel today Jesus points out to the crowd the inconsistency of their reaction to both John the Baptist and Jesus. What they expected was not what they saw, and they were unwilling to open their eyes to a new reality. We sometimes have an image of what our Christian life should be – and at times, when we read how Jesus preached, we are uncomfortable with what he proclaimed. We must open or eyes to the new reality of Jesus.
