25th Week in Ordinary Time

In today’s gospel Jesus instructs the Twelve before sending them out on mission. One of the instructions he gives them is about how to deal with people who reject them. Jesus says, “And as for those who do not, welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.” After a day at the beach, when you wash the sand off your feet, you leave behind the sand and you don’t bring it with you. When we hold on to our anger, disappointment and unhappiness we bring them with us wherever we go. These emotions can block us in experiencing, be present to the now. Today pray for the graces to be able to hand over our anger and bitterness to God.
