Daily Reflection: Tuesday, April 2

Tuesday of the First Week of Easter

And [the angels] said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?’

She said to them, “They have taken my Lord,

and I don’t know where they have laid him.”  (Jn 20: 13)

In the gospel of John, Mary of Magdala, overwhelmed with grief, stands distraught and confused before the empty tomb.  “Where is he?” is a question we share with her when we are overwhelmed.  It takes a while to get beyond it and to realize that the Risen One is with us.  For Mary, the Lord appears immediately.  She is consoled and commissioned to carry the good news to the other disciples.  Even when we are troubled, might we not also be commissioned to carry the good news to those who need it?
