Daily Reflection: Wednesday, April 3

Wednesday of the First Week of Easter

“Stay with us for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”

And he went in and stayed with them.   (Lk 24:29)

Suppose Cleopas and the other disciple had not invited this engaging stranger to stay with them.  They would not have recognized him in the breaking of bread or come to an understanding of the ancient prophesies in Scripture.  They would have missed out!

Hospitality is a necessary virtue for everyone who would be a companion of Jesus.

I think that this virtue cannot be divided, welcome for one and not another, welcome for the Word, but not a person.

John Frambes, ofm
