Daily Reflection: Tuesday, October 31

Tuesday, October 31

Happy Halloween! This began as an ancient Celtic festival which led into the Celtic New Year in several European countries. What we experience is purely an invention of our culture- costumes, trick or treat, door to door visits. It is fun to dress up and to enjoy the day. After sunset the church celebrates the Vigil of All Saints, a holy day. Many youngsters dress up as a saint which is so appropriate for Catholics. This can help a young person know something of the saint that they have chosen.
