Daily Reflection: Saturday, November 18

Saturday November 18

Today’s Gospel is often used as a call to perseverance in prayer. I do not necessarily like the comparison of God to the dishonest judge who only gives in to the widow because of her persistence and the threat of violence. Yes, we need to be faithful in prayer, but such persistence does not even always result in getting that for which we prayed! God is more than a judge, but a loving parent who knows what we need and loves to be in a relationship with us even, and especially when we have nothing to ask. Pray always, but often pray in praise of our loving God.
