Daily Reflection: Friday, July 14
Friday, July 14
St. Kateri Tekakwitha’s feastday is today. She was given the name “Tekakwitha”: “the one who walks groping her way.” because she suffered from small pox and it left her with poor vision and she would stumble. In spite of this and many other obstacles in her life, she went forward to be baptized and practice her faith, sometimes traveling hundreds of miles to go to Mass. She wanted to found a convent, but this was denied her. The effects of small pox took a toll on her and she lived to be 24 years old. She is a woman who showed what is possible even when so many things stand in your way.
