Daily Reflection: Friday, August 4

Friday, August 4, 2023 – St. John Vianney – Memorial https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/080423.cfm

In today’s gospel reading from Matthew, we see how his hometown treated him. They first were amazed about his knowledge of God; however, they could not trust his wisdom. How does a carpenter’s son gain this wisdom? His family, friends, and townspeople placed Jesus into a box. As humans we like to place things into groups to help us make meaning of our world. When we do this, we place limits on them and limits on God. We all need the help of the Holy Spirit to see a person develop into the child of God. Today pray for the grace to be able to see the transformation of a person that has been working on their spiritual journey.
