Daily Reflection: Monday, September 18

Monday September 18

“I ask that supplications, prayers petitions and thanksgivings be offered. . . for all in authority, that they may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all devotion and dignity.”

In Paul’s letter to Timothy, he is asking that prayers be offered for those in authority. It seems especially appropriate today for us to hear this request and put it into practice. No matter our political affiliation, the invitation to pray for those in positions of leadership among us is one we should take seriously. Anyone who is willing to take on such a role is in great need of our prayers. Our loving God will hear our petitions and extend grace to those who take their positions in a mode of service. Instead of complaining about those with whom we disagree, let us pray for them and give them over to God!
