Daily Reflection: Monday, March 4

Monday of the Third Week of Lent

When the people of the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury.  They rose up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill… to hurl him down headlong.  But he passed through the midst of them and went away.  (Lk 4:28-30)

The people of Nazareth had not taken Jesus’ words very well and a mob formed with the intent to kill him.  I imagine Jesus being a person with incredible presence to defy the mob and just walk away.  Couldn’t we have just a little of that presence?  In fact, we do.  If we abide in the Lord and take our strength from him, we can remain calm before the mob.
