Daily Reflection: Tuesday, March 5

Tuesday of the Third Week of Lent

At that the servant fell down, did him homage, and said, “Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.”  (Mt 18:26)

In the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, the servant, threatened with slavery, begs for time to pay back the king.  In reality, his debt was so large that he could never pay it back.  And yet the master forgave the debt.  How obtuse was that servant!  He had no understanding of his own reality and refused to forgive the small debt of a colleague.  Pray that we can see the big picture as we stand before the Lord and act according to the Lord’s vision for us.
