Daily Reflection: Friday, April 1

Friday, April 1

Happy April Fools Day! Think about the passage from the Book of Wisdom, our First Reading today: “The wicked said among themselves, thinking not aright: ‘Let us beset the just one, because he is obnoxious to us; he sets himself against our doings. Reproaches us for transgressions of the law and charges us with violations of our training. He professes to have knowledge of God and styles himself a child of the Lord.’” Even though this reading was written long before Jesus, it sounds like comments that the enemies of Jesus would say. “Let us condemn him to a shameful death.” It was the fools in Jesus’ time that would say such things about him. Remember, we are getting closer to Good Friday.
