Daily Reflection: Thursday, June 24

Thursday, June 24

We celebrate the Nativity of St. John the Baptist today. He was the one chosen by God to “prepare the way of the Lord.” Both Zechariah and Elizabeth, his parents, were “advanced in years” and yet Gabriel tells John that they will have a child named John. John the Baptist is very popular, attracting many to his baptism and eventually even Jesus. John knew that he had an important role to play but never let his popularity divert him from his being a prophet. We try to prepare others to believe in the Lord Jesus. Sometimes people don’t realize what believing in Jesus can do for your life
