Monday, June 28

Memorial of Saint Irenaeus, Bishop and Martyr

 Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.  (Mt 8:22)

 Jesus does not absolve us of family obligations.  He is not cruel.  With these words he invites us to take our discipleship very seriously.  Those who have not understood the gospel will continue doing what they have always done, sadly missing the joy of knowing and serving the Lord.
