“Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” While we may think that Jesus’ answer to this question, asked by the crowd in today’s Gospel from Matthew, may be an insult, it answers the question “who are those closest to him?” “Whoever does the will of my heavenly Father” is the answer and this, of course, includes Mary and the apostles, but now it opens the door to us.
