Daily Reflection: Thursday, July 22

Thursday, July 22

How did Mary Magdalene ever get the reputation of being a prostitute? The Scriptures say that seven demons had gone out from her but there is no indication that she engaged in this way of life. When we pay attention to the Scriptures, here is a brave and loyal disciple. She is the one who proclaims Jesus’ resurrection to the apostles. She rightly has been given the title the “Apostle to the Apostles.” Pope Francis placed her feastday on the same level as that of the apostles. Her “I have seen the Lord” is the great statement of her faith.
