Friday, July 23

Today’s First Reading from the Book of Exodus presents Moses giving the Lord’s Commandments. The words of each Commandment are familiar to us but it is good to ponder the meaning of each one. They are intended to guide us in our day to day lives, to use the gift of time wisely and to be aware of those things in life that can pull us away from God and the people in our lives. They are meant to keep us focused and to resist anything that could harm us or the people that we interact with. Once we allow the spirit of these commandments to influence us, these words begin to mean much more.
